Industrial Training Institute

Government-affiliated vocational training under CTS/NCVT scheme since 2012.

About This Programme

Established in 2012, the BCT-run Industrial Training Institute is an extension of the work BCT does in rural youth empowerment. Run under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) of the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), the BCT ITI trains students on skill sets relevant for manufacturing and service sectors. 100 students are trained every year in Electrician and Fitter skills, and have benefitted from good job placements as well. The program combines theoretical classroom instruction with practical hands-on training, industry exposure visits, and placement support to ensure rural youth gain employable skills. Working with the goal to establish itself as a leading ITI college, the BCT ITI is also considering non-conventional short-term programs that are market relevant and attract girl students as well.

Workshops & Technical Laboratories

How We Work

Hands-on Practical Training

Students take up various projects under Electrical and Fitter trades. Electrical trade projects include motor winding (agricultural and domestic), wiring of classrooms, relay unit explanation for DOL starters, etc. Fitter trade projects include power tool material cutting, filing, drilling, and measuring exercises, and hands-on training with Vernier calliper and height gauge. These exercises enhance students' precision, attention to detail, and equipment handling skills.

Multi-Skill & Employability Training

In 2024, BCT ITI launched the Multiple Skill Training Program, under which students are trained across multiple domains. Electricians learn fitting, carpentry, and plumbing, while Fitters gain skills in basic electrical wiring and tool maintenance. Additional modules include machinery operation and household repairs. This approach builds multi-skilled professionals, increasing job readiness and adaptability in real-world scenarios.

Industry Exposure & Career Support

BCT ITI constantly strengthens its industry connections, particularly with companies located in the Atchuthapuram Industrial Corridor. To enhance practical learning, plans are underway to implement a 1-month on-the-job training program, offering students valuable real-time industrial exposure. After completing the two-year training program, students are provided opportunities for campus placements. Additionally, a one-year apprenticeship program is available, helping students transition smoothly from training to the workforce.

Students of BCT ITI are also provided opportunities for interactions with students from other campuses and various industry visits. Visit focus on exploring collaborative opportunities, understanding the ongoing training programs, and sharing insights on the latest developments in technical education and industry trends.

Training Programs

BCT ITI takes up various technical and non-technical programs to support its students.

- Welding training provides hands-on training and real-world skills to students via theory and practical sessions. Students gain expertise in arc welding, and fabrication techniques. Special workshops and guest lectures by industry professionals are also held.

- Soft skills training is provided to enable students with a problem-solving approach, critical thinking skills, people management, emotional intelligence, English speaking etc.

- Engineering drawing classes teach students visual representations that enable them to understand components and mechanisms better.
