    Foundation

    BCT registers as one of the earliest NGOs in India to work on integrated rural development

  2. 1981expansion

    Rural Development

    Discussions take place at New Delhi on India’s way forward for rural development between Dr. BV Parameswara Rao, Prime Minister of India Smt Indira Gandhi, Sri Rajiv Gandhi, Sri Bunkar Ray of Tilonia, Rajasthan and Dr. Robert Mc Namara, President World Bank at New Delhi.

    Article in The Week

    The Week magazine felicitates Dr. Rao as ‘Man of the Year’ for his exemplary pioneering work in village development.

  4. 1992expansion

    Rehabilitaiton of PwD

    BCT starts Community Based Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities in collaboration with MIBLOU, Geneva and Sanchar, Kolkata

  5. 1993expansion

    Rehabilitation of Child Labour

    BCT Child Literacy and Training Program starts as part of rehabilitation of child labour in collaboration with International Labour Organization (ILO)

    Rehabilitation Centre Launched

    Sri P.V. Venkatesan Centre for Disability Rehabilitation inaugurated.

  7. 1995education

    Residential High School Established

    BCT establishes the first-of-its-kind residential model high school, which will offer rurally-biased, skill-oriented, value-based education.

  8. 1995agriculture

    KVK Sanctioned by ICAR

    The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is sanctioned to BCT, to enhance and improve the outcome for villagers.

  9. 2000disability

    Sri P.V. Venkatesan Centre Inaugurated

    Disability rehabilitation centre inaugurated at Haripuram, offering CBR and institution-based rehabilitation services.

  10. 2003education

    Campaign for education

    Dr. BV Parameswara Rao conducts a padayatra in rural Visakhapatnam. This is a campaign for skill-oriented, value-based, self-reliant and village – biased education.

  11. 2012education

    ITI Established

    Industrial Training Institute launched under CTS/NCVT scheme with Electrician and Fitter trades, training 100 students per year.

  12. 2014programs

    BCT-TMF SMART Programmes Launch

    BCT partners with Tech Mahindra Foundation to establish BCT TMF SMART center in Dwarakanagar, Visakhapatnam for training peri-urban youth on IT enabled services and Customer Relations & Sales. In consecutive years, two more SMART centers are set up.

    Grameena Incubation Center launched

    The Grameena Incubation Center (GIC) begins operations in rural Visakhapatnam. Set up under the Technology Innovation for Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE 2.0) it is supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), New Delhi.

    Farmer Field Schools

    BCT launches Farmer Field Schools in 5 villages. Also the Prerana initiative was started in tribal Paderu in collaboration with Vibha Foundation, USA & Sikshana Foundation

    A star is lost

    BCT Founder, Dr. BV Parameswara Rao passes away at the age of 86.

  16. 2024agriculture

    Golden Jubilee

    BCT KVK marks its golden jubilee year.

  17. 2024expansion

    An eventful year

    June marks the start of the Women Nano Entrepreneurship training program at BCT campus. Supported by Mrs. Lata Gullapalli, the program aims to empower rural women by helping them scale businesses and create sustainable employment. BCT collaborates with Festivals For Joy, a Hyderabad-based NGO founded by celebrity TV anchor Mrs. Suma Kanakala. BCT enters into a partnership with Feeding India, the non-profit wing of Zomato for providing wholesome meals for students of BCT Residential school.

    SLFC Program Launched

    A new program Sustainable Livelihoods for Farmers and Challenged (SLFC) supported by Azim Premji Foundation begins with focus on developing Natural Farming, rehabilitation of PwD's in Rural and Tribal areas.
