BCT India Celebrates Annual Day 2026: A Festival of Talent and Gratitude
The BCT India campus in Bheemunipatnam came alive on February 22, 2026, as we hosted our Annual Day celebrations — a much-anticipated event that brings together our entire community. This year's theme, "Roots and Wings," celebrated the deep connections our work has with local communities while looking forward to ambitious new initiatives.
Cultural Programmes
The day began with a traditional tribal dance performance by students of the Residential High School. Their energetic rendition of the Dhimsa dance, performed in beautiful handwoven costumes, received a standing ovation from the 500+ attendees. This was followed by a series of skits, songs, and performances showcasing the diverse talents of our students.
A particularly moving segment was a performance by students from our disability rehabilitation programme. A group of hearing-impaired students performed a sign language rendition of "Vande Mataram" that left many audience members in tears. It was a powerful demonstration of ability over disability.
Awards and Recognition
Several students and staff members were recognized for outstanding achievements. Meritorious students from the RHS received scholarships for higher education. Three farmers from our KVK programme were awarded "Progressive Farmer" certificates for exceptional adoption of improved agricultural practices. Long-serving staff members were felicitated for their dedication.
Distinguished Guests
We were honoured to host Dr. S. Ayyappan, former Director General of ICAR, as our Chief Guest, along with the District Collector of Visakhapatnam and representatives from our partner organizations including NABARD, DRDA, and the National Trust for the Welfare of PwDs.
Looking to the Future
In his address, our Executive Director outlined BCT's vision for 2026-2030, including expansion of the digital classroom programme, a new vocational training centre for PwDs, and the millet value chain cluster project. With the continued support of our partners and donors, we are poised to reach 50,000 direct beneficiaries by 2030.
