This hearing impaired student joined the Sri PVV center during the academic year 2019 – 20 in grade six. Having completed her primary education at a convent school, she had picked some writing skills, but struggled with comprehension and communication. Lagging behind in academics, she also could not communicate using sign language as well. Her parents, recognizing her needs, enrolled her in BCT’s special education program designed for children with hearing and speech impairments. At BCT, Yasaswini received structured support through sign language, speech therapy, and spoken English (SMS English). She was also trained in life-enriching skills like tailoring, computer basics, and horticulture. Today Yasaswini can read, write and express herself with sign language. She actively participates in cultural activities, which have built her confidence. She also independently conducts sessions for juniors on tailoring and horticulture. At BCT, she is not only growing academically but also evolving into a capable and responsible young individual with a promising future.
